Business domains

Domains are namespaces for enduring business meaning. They are not different capability types, organizational charts, software modules or implementation technologies.

Draft 0.2 models all eight initial domains. Procurement is the reference domain; the other seven are modeled domains. Maturity describes specification completeness, not market adoption.

Procurement Reference

Purchase Requisitions, Suppliers, Purchase Orders and Receipts.

Finance Modeled

Invoices, Payments, Journal Entries and Payment Runs.

Sales Modeled

Customers, Quotes, Sales Orders and Returns.

Human Resources Modeled

Workers, Positions, Leave Requests and Payroll Runs.

Service Modeled

Customer Cases and Service Requests.

Logistics Modeled

Shipments, Deliveries and Inventory Transfers.

Manufacturing Modeled

Work Orders, Production Orders and Material Issues.

Projects Modeled

Projects, Project Tasks, Project Time and Project Cost.

What is deliberately absent

There is no Integration or Automation business domain. Those describe how work may be implemented rather than what enduring business meaning the work has. Generic technical IT operations are also outside the ABCS catalog.
